Plans for a new runway parallel to Dublin Airport’s main runway have been in Fingal’s County Development Plans since the early 1970s. The Airport has experienced strong growth recently, with 2016 seeing passenger numbers exceed 25 million for the first time.

Investment in airport infrastructure requires long term planning and engagement with stakeholders ranging from local communities to national economic development agencies and international airline groups. All with different views on the impact of passenger growth and future demand for aviation services.

DesignWorks created the identity and design system which will “represent” the runway project visually and verbally – and support the existing engagement process for the planning and construction of the new airport runway. Our challenge was to shorten the distance between the runway development strategy and the expression of the opportunity to a wide range of audiences across multiple media.
