Mezze is a family-run Middle Eastern food company in Waterford, with a burgeoning flavour-filled business established at farmers markets. DesignWorks developed a consumer identity and packaging system for their transition from start-up to super market shelf, through the SuperValu Food Academy.

The meaning of the word ‘mezze’ is small dishes shared as an appetiser or a light meal. The products benefit from both an increasing consumer demand for healthy, local food and a new-found conviviality and resourcefulness – as consumers seek to reconnect, share meals and converse with friends.

As an emerging cuisine in Ireland, there was a desire to explain the more exotic products on pack. The fresh flavours and rich cultural traditions that fill every pot are splashed boldly on the packaging (illustrations by Georgina Luck), with recipes available on the reverse.
