Vermeer and the Masters of Genre Painting
Exhibition Identity
The summer of 2017 saw the reopening of the historic wings of the National Gallery of Ireland, coinciding with the highly anticipated exhibition Vermeer and the Masters of Genre Painting: Inspiration and Rivalry.
_
The exhibition featured nearly a third of all the works the renowned Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer created during his lifetime, presented with his contemporaries to create a stunning exhibition of 63 works.
_
A central narrative of the exhibition was the interaction and artistic rivalry that existed between Vermeer and other artists throughout the Dutch Republic who both influenced and took inspiration from each other.
_
This theme Inspiration and Rivalry formed the basis of our creative explorations, and is expressed in the title graphic and design system, meticulously applied throughout signage & promotion, exhibition materials, public marketing, and an expansive education & outreach programme.
